My problem with the Euro from the very beginning was that it was absolutely unnecessary - except to cement a political unity, a new Holy Roman Empire, the advantages of which are also not entirely clear. The argument that a united currency helps with trade is laughable - in the world of floating currencies and fast computers, which translate one currency into another with the speed of light.

So a wise man might buy dollars or gold OR short the Euro?
