Wells Fargo had the same problem when digesting First Interstate Bank. Boy, did they piss off some people & it also had an impact on their earnings, but it had absolutely nothing to do with the year 2000.

Yes & no.

On a simple level Y2K is just a HUGE software maintenance issue... just like UP & Wells Fargo. You get some hicups when the systems are slamed together.

But Y2K is going to SIMULTANEOUSLY hit most companies (assuming most are ill prepared) all at the same time. UP & Wells Fargo had the option of calling in high prices emergency consultants & clerical staff just to do the tasks manually... won't be an option in 1999 since everyone will be crying for the same non-existance labor.
