As a NOVL watcher, I can't help but wonder why they are not an acquisition candidate. With the stock at current prices, this would be a steal for a Sun Microsystems. There is a great deal of logic in a combination of this kind -- of course Scott and Eric's ongoing friendship would help make it happen but the real upside is in two place -- 1st in the corporate accounts that Novell is still strong in (where Sun can use all of the help they can get to move more hardware) and secondly in the two technology areas that Novell is becoming stronger in -- the web and directory services (the corporate "enterprise" directory where Sun doesn't have a product today)

Maybe we will see some action around Comdex -- always seems like a lightening rod for acquisitions (WebTV last year...)
