I expect to go on being alive and kicking for some time, although of course one never knows. By "some time" I mean to say an indefinite time which I expect to be longish, rather than shortish. Years rather than minutes.

I have suggested to my son that he should invent a portable insulin meter. Right now diabetics depend on glucose meters, but insulin and glucose are very different things, and I don't think glucose is a very good proxy for insulin.

I think a lot about such things these days, having developed non-insulin dependent Type 2 diabetes. Not much in the way of acute systems, which is the usual way of these things, but chronic things are creeping up.

I am insulin-resistant at present but my pancreas is still making insulin, and if I am very, very good, my glucose is not insanely elevated. I would like to keep track of my secretion of insulin. I think it would be useful.
