Eric; If you do not believe in spot or futures markets let a contract mature and you will be asked where you want it shipped, or you then start to pay storage on all the sugar/copper/pork bellies you now own.
Any item brokered on the spot market can be bought in the spot contract amount and will be delivered at that price plus local freight from the point of origin.
I used to do it all the time with rosin for varnish in the 70's.
