I would voluntarily offer my time, my money, and my organizational skills to help those less fortunate. This does not require government, and I would argue that it is not the job of government to fix.

Believe me, you would make a much bigger difference if you directly volunteered your resources toward helping the poor, rather than wasting it on partisan politics. The only reason you want to involve politics is to use the collective powers of government to force charity upon everyone, and that never works (despite how much self-righteous liberals want it to).
