Same here. First it was my wife's parents, then my Dad. Mom's almost 79 with several major health issues.

I decided long ago that I wanted to make sure I had no regrets after they passed & did my best to live up to that. You still have them of course, but I'd like to think that it might have been worse.

On a side note, I tried to live my life that way. Now that I'm disabled I'm still distressed about what I've lost, but I had a very full life for 40+ years. Rather than dwell on what I can't do, I'm grateful for all the things I have done. Sure it makes one adjust their Bucket List, but many of the most important ones were already checked off.
