MEMC just broke out, gapping to the upside. Is something up besides Jim Cramer's bad-mouthing on yesterday's CNBC Lightning Round?

There's no barrier to competition in the silicon ingot business. The idea MEMC apparently has (of vertical integration) in the solar chain is a good one. Make the wafers using the world's most efficient process, and then do "trade-outs" with PV manufacturers to get finished PV cells.

SunEdison is doing turn-key solar panels like hotcakes. Financing the project itself or through investors, it offers the firms wanting solar a "packaged, independent power producer" approach. All they do is pay SunEdison instead of the local utility. Cool concept. They get less expensive, reliable energy from on the spot generation and MEMC beats the utility and other solar competitors.
