Natural oil seeps probably put about 3K bpd into the GOM. You can see natural oil slicks on recent satellite photos. In the second photo below you can see both the BP slick and natural oil slicks off to the southwest:

Perhaps so, but I recall back when that the marine life had largely recovered a year later. Give scientists grants to monitor it and give reports every year, and it will never recover.
