"The rich are not paying their fair share"

Let's start with you and your husband, Hill. When should we expect the check?

"Brazil has the highest tax-to-GDP rate in the Western Hemisphere and guess what — they're growing like crazy," Clinton said. "And the rich are getting richer, but they're pulling people out of poverty."

If Brazil had the EPA, NEPA, and similar laws in place they wouldn't be so profitable and Clinton would have to change her story.

US environmentalists should have a cow over Clinton's boast.

Brazil does have very high taxes and lots of different, confusing and constantly changing tax laws ..... the other side of the story is I think people and local businesses cheat on their taxes a lot there.

Coincidentally, early in the week I was in a meeting where Brazil's business complexity was discussed. From a powerpoint slide:

50+ different types of taxes, constantly changing

heavy paperwork requirments

local content - unclear rules

goods 60% local content
services 80% local content

tax rates

foreign vendors goods 76% services 45%
local vendors goods 56% services 17%

----------------
Why would a foreign company do business there? For us its offshore oil. Plentiful natural resources can cover a lot of governmental mistakes.

Liberal elitists want to pay as few taxes as possible. Rush discussed this on his show today, and brought up the fact that the Clintons have set up a foundation that shields them from paying taxes to the U.S. govt.
