Oh, I agree with the theory. We could have carried it off when gas was 50 cents and with no impending supply wall, and you could work a tax up to $1.50 over a few years. Now, I'm afraid, if we put a buck on $3.00 gas, we'll be paying 6 bucks in 18 months, driven by market forces alone, and the tax will be a real killer. Recall what happened when supplies got tight, early '06, and went up by ?$1. Construction workers pawning their tools so they could buy the gas to go to work. We waited too long.
