CJ, I thought it was inappropriate for Obama to lecture the country about its addiction to oil while the mess has yet to be cleaned up. This "lecture" was during a period when the country felt he wasn't doing enough to help out.

Let's not forget that just a month prior to the spill, Obama publicly announced his intentions for more oil drilling. Whether he really believed in or not, he should have owned up to the consequences of what he was advocating.

I personally don't think Obama could have done that much more to help out with the spill, but the difference means a lot politically, and I sure didn't see any evidence of strong leadership. This could truly be Obama's "Katrina" moment. Only thing that can save Obama is pushing the notion that the Republicans are worse, but that's a real tough sell these days.
