Part of this is perception.

Perception is everything.

Real discrimination has declined a lot over the decades.

True but that doesn't change the fact it still exists.

The media and academia promote the idea and perception of discrimination .... more than is justified.

Not really. In the 1990s, I watched the police beat the sh*t out of a Latino....probably an illegal.....right in front of my house. When I went out to find out what they were doing, one of the cops raised his baton and told me to get back into the house. Some of the most racist people in our society are cops. Their excuse is that they are exposed to the world's underbelly but what I find interesting is that the white underbelly doesn't seem to bother them as much as the dark underbelly.

The illegal alien issue creates some .... as does prominent hispanics embrace of illegality as being an ethnic rights issue.

True. I think they are motivated to exaggerate the problem so there will be a strong reaction........the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
