Tom, the more I hear from you, the more I am realizing that we have a few common rules. The biggest difference between you and me - unlike you, my motto is this: "take my advice, I don't use it!" -g-
My first rule - preserve the capital, a rule I some times ignored and paid hefty penalties. Second, cut losses early and take profits slowly! Today, I implemented these and got out of a major portion of my AOL puts for a slight loss. The stock tanked after hours. But I have no regrets. Rule is a rule.
Another extension of the rule you mentioned is that don't over-trade, especially if you play a contrarian game. That could kill you.
Good luck!
