but the spill has the country glued to depression (in the consciousness).

It does??? today was an errand day. yet another day that I didn't come intact with one depressed person. this story is the same as when "the whole country is angry over this..." or "that".

I don't mean this towards you since it is such a meme about situation after situation these last years, but... it strikes me all as a lil Oprah. lovely feely. cept Oprah is upbeat.

keeping people focused and 'depressed' about one thing is a good way to get a con worked. worked with getting us into iraq. this week a couple of very important votes come up and the conference is happening on the financial reform bill... things that could affect us for decades to come. most people in the stores I go to are concerned about the spill and about the gulf (we are a part of the gulf), but realize the day and day and decades of importance of what is before congress right now. and in the local area, we're fighting to keep a strip mine out (from a company with a horrible record) in order to keep out lake clean. the oil spill draws attention. people in places where they are used to enviromental devastation from coal and other goodies tend to realize there are thousands of lil armageddons going on all the world.

The tea party is trying to gain a back door entry into politics. They are trying to move the Republican party to the extreme right similar to the left liberals who are trying to move the Democratic party to the extreme left.

The only difference: the tea party folks aren't saying so.
