<< I have wondered whether the government shouldn't replace Fitch, Moodys, etc to be more objective>>
Well so much for your love of free enterprise. Don't you think that people here (and everywhere else so it seems) argue about government enough as it is? The idea of being selectively for big government is a big cause of big government.

Chancels, respectfully I think you have your history a bit skewed.

"That somewhat famous flatbed floating/submersible ship - the one that carried the crippled Vincenz after the terrorist attack - was brought to the harbor at an enormous daily rate."

The crippled ship was the USS Cole, docked in the large Yemeni port of Aden.
en.wikipedia.org

The USS Vincennes was the guided missile cruiser with the infamous distinction of having shot down a full Airbus passenger airliner killing 290 people, including 66 children. It was never damaged by terrorists.
en.wikipedia.org

The famous flatbed barge is the MV Blue Marlin seen here with the USS Cole:

Interestingly, the Blue Marlin was also the heavy lift vessel that brought BP's ThunderHorse platform to the Gulf from South Korean shipyards.

Cheers,
