That's tough. I understand how you must feel.

FWIW I think it is impossible to know how the BP thing will work out. After placing your bet you may be better off not thinking about it for a while--6 months maybe!

Simmons may be a nut, or may be about some things. Obama and co will try to run over everything like they did with the banks. Still I suspect BP will survive. I read somewhere that 10% of British dividends in the footsie come from BP. Their gov will probably step up to the plate sooner or later before it gets too bad.

That said, I did not buy any, mostly for other reasons, although I would have done, and been too early too.
