Unfortunately, O is just as corporatist as Bush was. Just different corporations, by and large. He can't put DWH on Bush, his own clown of an Interior Secretary was the one who signed off on the laughable drilling application. Who appointed Salazar? Not Bush (not that his guy would have done better, but he hardly could have done worse).

Is this the change you voted for? Or getting our troops out of Iraq, wow glad that's over! Or reforming the financial regulatory structure of the US? A big bust on all things that matter (unless you count health care, which was a pyrrhic victory at best). At this point I really wonder if McGramps would have been worse, seems like the outcome on all counts would be more or less the same. Of course we would have had Sarah Palin a geriatric heartbeat away from the presidency which is probably enough reason to vote for anyone else.

John Boehner clarifies Republican House leadership position on who needs to pay for gulf disaster.

In response to a question from TPMDC, House Minority Leader John Boehner backed Tom Donohue, President of the Chamber of Commerce, in saying taxpayers should help pick up the tab.

"I think the people responsible in the oil spill--BP and the federal government--should take full responsibility for what's happening there," Boehner said at his weekly press conference this morning.

In other words the GOP philosophy of privatizing profits and socializing losses, just like the banks, will be the GOp position in this one too.

Wouldn't be surprised if this is the majority sentiment here too......

>>However, when it comes to Big Oil, I know the Dems are not Big Oil's friends.<<

i don't think you know what you think you know.

do not confuse propaganda with truth. remember, republicans are for smaller government, right? pubs are for states rights, right? no, they lie to the sheeple to get elected.

>>They would love to see a huge tax on oil and a big bang approach to renewable energy. I also know that the GOP is in bed with Big Oil and has been for a very long time.<<

both are in bed with big oil. cap and trade is big oil's monopoly establishing wet dream. they get free pollution credits while the competition has to pay top dollar - meaning no competition. then prices rise in the absence of competition - A LOT!

work less, earn more - what's not to love?

big bankers own big oil - and big bankers own both parties. they also own the press in order to deceive the public.

I remember when you mused about how this gulf spill would match up to the Valdez spill?
