I'm beginning to think that Obama is too chicken to turn massive threats like the BP oil spill into massive opportunities.

Honestly, the single biggest reason I voted for Obama is that he gave speech after speech about how our oil dependence was at the nexus of threats to our economy, threats to our national security, and threats to our environment. As such, it was a no brainer for us to push for massive change to get us to oil independence.

So although I'm happy with the changes he has made through the EPA, I think he hasn't done nearly enough to strong arm Congress to get a Manhattan project going on oil independence. He could easily use the BP oil spill as his platform.

But he's chicken. He doesn't have the leadership fortitude to do it. And it's disappointing as hell to watch. All I can say is what the hell is wrong with our country? Exactly at what point in time did we go from being the greatest nation on earth with a can-do, never-say-die attitude to being this panzy-ass, fat, lazy, victim, debt ridden nation. I am just so damned disappointed.

Let's kick them all out and start from scratch on a centrist platform and only vote in the folks who have honor and the willingness to do what's right, not what's easy. Oil independence, balanced budgest, NO bailouts, allow businesses to fail and defend our free markets, mandate that all derivatives trade on transparent markets and all transactions have a paper trail, bring back Glass-Steagal, bring our troops home from the Middle East and from most places around the world, reinvest in the education of our kids, and cut back on safety nets and entitlement spending. The list goes on and on.
