Governments have always resorted to Bernie Madoff economics, Max. That's what fiat money is all about, it's a giant pyramid scheme in slow motion. Why do you think that great big pyramid with the eye is on the back of the Clownbuck? Print more than you produce every year, so that economies see "growth" (and growth is ALWAYS good, right). Devalue the currency bit by bit so that future generations always get stuck with the tab. That's why fiat currencies usually don't have 100th birthdays......ours may be an exception, but just barely (it's value is already down to 6% of what it was when the Fed started their dirty work in 1913).

Let the state bailouts begin. I guess Illinois being on life support was what got Obama off his ass and wants the money to flow stateside. Got gold?

"Another oddity of the plan is that the pension fund, which assumes its assets will earn 8 percent a year, would accept interest payments from the state that would probably be 4.5 percent to 5.5 percent."

You think that the geniuses who try and guess ROI would have moved away from that 8% nonsense figure by now as its just a fantasy. Look at the return of the S&P 500 over the last 10 years. You just can't make this crap up, but these are your tax dollars at work.
