"And now you're actually talking about some fund that Bob recommended a decade ago. "

No. His advice for TEFQX was to "hold for future recovery" so it is still an open recommendation. I believe his advice to buy the QQQ in the $80s back in 2000 is also a "hold for future recovery."

The discussion was Gold, an asset class Brinker has bashed until very recently...
Message 26627511

and I pointed out that he also bashed internet stocks for most of their run in the 1990s... I believe his only NEW tech stock buy in his newsletter after 1997 was UTEK and that was at about $30 so it lost money by the time he said to sell 60% of equities in 2000. Wasn't UTEK the ONLY tech stock in the sector that didn't go up huge... but lost money! If you made a bundle on tech stocks, it was on your own. I made friends with one couple who nearly had a divorce in 1996 or 1997 with the husband selling MSFT every time it went up to keep it at 4% per Brinker.

But back to TEFQX... that was an internet stock he recommended at the very top of the bubble... and I pointed out that his now having gold in his list of recommended funds (he has the ETF) could be a warning sign of a top just like his advice to buy TEFQX was in Feb of 2000 when he recommended it with a full page in his newsletter.

" I don't otherwise follow the other stuff as you know when I talk about the highly speculative microcap and small cap semi stocks I own on that semi board I recently started posting on."

I've enjoyed your recent contributions there. I've been a regular since 1997 or 1998 when I found a few others there besides me liked LRCX between $3 and $4....

As for what others do on other boards not here, I don't care and it isn't relevant. Part of "good radio" is to piss off part of the audience to create controversy. One of Brinker's past biggest supporters readily admits his wife can't stand Brinker and won't stay in the room if he has it on the radio.

Re: "There's probably going to be a few bitter people in a nursing home whose only memory is going to be Bob's horrible QQQ call."

That made me laugh! Maybe I found it funny because it will probably be true.

Nice to see you around again.

Best wishes,
