An appointment is an election, you dummy. God you are stupid. Would you rather say that he was appointed as Attorney General by Oglesby and his advisers and (in fact) the public whom they served rather than say that Oglesby elected (representing the people of Illinois) to choose to place Robert Green Ingersoll at the head of the State of Illinois in all legal/moral matters?? Well, be my guest!! I will gladly use the word “appointed”!!!!!! The point wasn’t about dictionary red herrings. It was about whether or not he was one of the most important men in the nation! And history is very clear that he could have had the Presidency in a snap if he had been willing to compromise his integrity and moral values! Of course he would not and never did. With all the superstitious enemies he made by telling the truth and fighting for justice and morality, none of his enemies could ever in his life (or after) find one spot against his character!! That is what really pisses you off in your superstitious rage against freethinkers!!
