Why not tax gas?

We do already.

Give me a break, I posted the chart. We are not taxing gas nearly enough. Its not even enough to maintain our roads and bridges let along build mass transit.

I suggested taxing oil imports in order to discourage them and encourage domestic production. Since you identified the trade imbalance as a problem, such a tax would address that problem directly.

The goal is get away from an oil economy, not just increase domestic production.

There wasn't central planning in the USSR. It was an oligarchy......a corrupt one.

There was central planning in the USSR. Everything was planned centrally. It didn't work.

Nonsense.

There is some central planning in China and its a highly successful capitalist economy.

It isn't at all like the old days.

Ugh! Its exactly like the old days.
