Ted, > Setting him up? You're kidding....he cheekily demanded and got 30K extra men for Afghanistan.

That was after a lot of political struggling which left bitter feelings on both sides of the argument.

No, it wasn't......he gave a report to Obama requesting the additional 30K and then cheekily leaked the report to the press to insure he would get his way. He' an arrogant asshole.

I'm sure we'll find out more from McChrystal now that he has a lot of "free time" on his hands. Maybe some of it will be confirmed by Bob Woodward who always seems to get the inside scoop.

Gen. McCrystal will be keeping his mouth shut. Trust. The guy was screwing up in Afghanistan and now he's fired. He looks like an idiot.

In the meantime, I wouldn't trust the mainstream media to provide the full story. They already have their narrative. A loose cannon for a general, a war supposedly going badly, The Chosen One reasserting civilian control over the military ... what more is there to report?

Sounds good to me.

A LOT more, such as the reasons why McChrystal flew off the handle. Hard to believe a man with "an enlightened strategy for dealing with the insurgency" would just do this for no reason. Plus the war in Afghanistan isn't going as badly as the media is portraying. Certainly not the way Rolling Stone did.

Apparently, you don't understand a big ego. He was TEAM AMERICA......he coined that name. He fukked up twice before and got away with it......he thought he was invincible. It happens all the time........big ego goes on a rampage before the fall.

The worst thing that can happen is that the war in Afghanistan ends with a whimper. We just get tired of the place and leave. But I don't think that makes for a great story, other than the departure itself.

Like most Americans, I want out.....asap.

Really? The guy has a LONG history of egotistical insubordinate behavior stretching back to high school, through West Point, Vietnam and on to now.

There were a number of people who thought the man should have been fired back then...his cowboy diplomacy was less than professional.

A loose cannon for a general, a war supposedly going badly, The Chosen One reasserting civilian control over the military ... what more is there to report?

I am sure fox and the right wind punditry will have a different view...limit yourself to these outlets and your biases will probably be satiated.
