That is so sad!

It reminds me of a place we used to go to on the North Fork of the Skykomish River. It was a campground called "Troublesome Creek" and we just loved camping there. One Memorial Day weekend a large family went up to have a picnic and reunion. Mom and Grandpa were walking on the trail that is horizontal to the creek. Of course the creek was running really fast due to the snow melt. They had little McKenzie with them.......she was 4. Mom was holding McKenzie's hand as they went closer to the creek to take a look. The rocks were slippery and Mom slipped. Grandpa reached out to catch McKenzie but she was just out of his reach. He broke his ankle.

She was found 1/2 mile down river and someone said it looked like someone had taken a base ball bat to her.

The family erected a memorial to McKenzie at the campground, but it was taken out during the flood of '06.

Don't walk near a raging rive when everything is wet.
