Skeeter, do you own gold? And if you do, how do you own it? Do you have physical bullion sitting somewhere where you have control of the physical space it is stored in?

Or do you have a piece of paper from a bank or brokerage account that is a promise that you own gold? I'm curious, because hold physical gold is the safest thing, but the transaction costs are very high. Whereas, if you hold a piece of paper that says you own it, that's no better than holding US dollars, because if they are intent on stealing from you, then your piece of paper is worth about as much as the toilet paper in my bathroom.
