That's as close to single-handed as I can think of. There might be something like that going on with transgenic crops, GMO's, etc., but that involves many corporations and people, and how that plays out is still open (see the newly evolved Roundup-ready weeds).

But neither would have had much effect without some way of increasing soil fertility, and the quick and dirty way to get nitrogen into the soil is what Haber came up with.

And the more the human population grows, and gets hungrier, the more we keep kicking Malthus' can down the road.
