From Briefing ...

08:52 ET Chip-Equipment Makers: Sector likely to be a highlight after DMG informed
clients that LSI Logic is cutting capital expenditures by 50%. At present, sector stks
doing fine in pre-market. Most major names indicated about 1 to 1 1/4 pts lower.

Do you think this is a company specific item or does it mean trouble for the equip makers?

Thanks
Dave

Cary,

"I am a very provincial investor."

It is most amusing to hear you so describe yourself. While you have a rich menu of local companies to choose from, there are companies in other parts of the world you may want to participate in. Naturally you would want seemingly compelling bargains elsewhere to compensate for greater risks and informational deficits. Have you ever considered ASMIF? (I just can't get away from Holland!...Must be a longing for tulips!)

Probably shouldnt get back on the trade thing but "fast track" vote tommorrow should be interesting...unfortunately looks like a loser.
Saw George Will on his Sunday morning news show saying: "Free trade hurts certain groups in the economy" which is like Marx admitting that free enterprise isnt all bad.
