You nailed it. But, in defense of the "small people", the corporations own all the media. The Frank Luntz's of the world work for THEM - death tax is much scarier than inheritance tax.

The people vote for who they are influenced to vote for, most of the time. Bush being re-elected is all the proof you need.

Obama is something of a fluke. McCain was a terrible candidate. The (R)'s probably felt that after Bush, they weren't going to win anyway and McCain had never really gotten his turn..Then McCain picked PALIN for VP!

He might have just as well conceded.
