>>You are aware that various employers are currently pushing for increased farm labor sources because they don't think there is currently enough?<<

at below market wages - there isn't enough.

and never will be - that's what "below market wages" means.

There's already a guest worker program. It's called the H2a and H2b visa programs. The businesses just don't want to comply with the requirements that try to level the playing field with businesses that don't use guest workers.

"The guest workers would only be allowed in the numbers that are needed"

Well, most employers would "need" them if they can pay lower wages than they would for an American. I have no idea how much you'd have to pay an American to bend over all day and pick strawberries, or what a strawberry would sell for if you did.

How much would you have to pay an American to work in my local McDonalds, where I'm heading to breakfast right now? Other than the manager, it seems to be all Mexican. The decent English speakers work the counter and the windows, those with less language skills cook, do prep and clean.

I'll bet all our Big Macs would cost more.

There was a new sandwich featured on the Colbert Report last night. It was a cheeseburger featuring two grilled cheese sandwiches instead of a bun! I forget who was selling it..

Easy. Not all illegals are farm workers. Not even a majority are. So certify a few more farm workers through guest worker programs (if the need is truly justified) and tax employers who do an enhanced employment tax to cover the social services needed for their stay here.

If the price of their employment goes up? Do prices go up or does increased automation take over. Technology RULES!
