This is how Obama should have played the political game:

When Obama took office he inherited a bush depression. He should have focused on that. It was fresh in peoples minds. He could have pounded on the right wing and spent trillions on jobs creation.

Instead he got sidetracked on health care which was not as pressing an issue and it took peoples attention off the disaster Bush had created. Worse he pandered to the right wing to get the votes and he gave legitimacy to the right wing by doing so, plus it made him look weak.

And Obama lost his chance to spend enough money on job creation. He misplayed his hand, IMO.

Now just a few months out from the election people have only one thing on their mind. Jobs and the economy. they are not thinking about health care any more than they were when Obama was elected; and they have forgotten what bush did, and all they know, is that we are in a depression and will blame the nearest person around.
