Continuing with quips . . .

Ten days - If I'd only known a close friend of mine was going to pass at the ripe old age of 30, I might have been able to ask him to will me his AR 15. Then waiting ten days would not have been a problem. I guess I'll just have to join the local militia (yes, I do believe there may very well be one).

I read an article some time ago about a local sheriff who finally told someone (which then got picked up by the news over here in Pumpkin land) that he was not going to do the background checks required by the Brady Bill because, as his department was short staffed, he had far more important business to attend to then spending all that time checking people out. I believe, if I remember correctly, he stated that it cost more to do the checks than was appropriated for the checks and he simply could not afford the expense or time spent doing the checks. In short, most guns laws, imo, fall flat on their face when it comes to actual enforcement. It seems to me it is mostly just another hot button issue geared to stir the populace into thinking that by electing someone to do so and so, something is going to get done. So what if anything has actually gotten done. Not much as far as I can tell.

I don't care one way or the other whether people own guns or not. I think it should be left up to the individual to decide. It is the laws enforcing the demise by those who use guns for criminal means which need to be strengthened.

By the way, whether I agree with you or not, Alex, you are a joy to read. Talk at ya next weekend if necessary or just e- me.
