Dems better try to figure out your mindset and fast.

That is so odd that you would say this. I was looking at some polls this morning and found myself thinking that Dems should start polling independents in an honest spirit of inquiry. It's not enough to quantify how many people are 'very angry' or a 'little bit angry'....ha...unless there's a simultaneous effort to find out in great detail what is making them angry and what the public's priorities are.

I've had the feeling for quite awhile that the administration is either behind the public or it does know what the public wants and just doesn't care. This admin. keeps offering solutions and passing legislation that isn't quite what voters want or wanted. And while the differences between what they wanted and what they got can be passed off as "compromise", it still leaves the public feeling disatisfied or even cheated, I think. This is why the health care package has pretty much been a dud in terms of the public excitedly embracing it.

Similarly, the public wanted legislation that focused like a laser on the causes of the banking debacle and left no wiggle room for that type of crisis to occur again. It doesn't look as though Fin Reg will do this. Even if it somehow does, the legislation is so big and covers so many areas, plus creates so many new commissions, the public will be left dependent on the pols to explain it and/or spin it. Smaller, targeted legislation is easier for the public to understand and an administration to defend, not to mention being easier for the business community to implement.

As for me personally, I am a registered Democrat so I embrace the basic premises of the Democratic party. But I'm in the hybrid group, the Blue Dogs, who do feel all legislation should be passed against a backdrop of fiscal responsibility. Right now I am thinking that the economy is better off in the hands of Blue Dogs/Conservatives. There's a time and a season for all things, and what's been coming out of this administration has not yet, imo, been appropriate for the times, i.e. the problems at hand. Of course, I don't know what's spurring others to lose confidence in O, but I'd love to see some polls that tried to get in the weeds on this.
