I don't think you are getting the distinction I'm making. Laissez faire markets vs regulated free markets.

The GOP believes in laissez faire, which has led to unbelievable excesses, corruption, and major ecological disasters. I believe in regulated free markets, which have been the foundation of this country's long term prosperity.

I agree with you that voting the GOP back in power will be rewarding the people who created a lot of this mess. However, it won't be the end of the world. Obama still has veto power. I think you have already given Obama the mantle of "the greatest President", but I think it's too soon to judge. Let's see him wield the veto and bend the GOP to his will, while holding them accountable for their fascist behavior and policies after November. That will be his true test of greatness. If he buckles under GOP bullying, then we'll know he's a pushover and another Carter.
