Much of what you call good news, I call hype and propaganda. Since it's my money they're trying to steal, I'm going to play devil's advocate. A 23% cut in a worthless POS is not spurring that much more in sales when consumers are growing increasingly leery. Personally, I would never carry around another gadget. I have a hard enough time remembering and keeping track of my phone, keys and wallet. Considering they released this in conjunction with their other fluff news and a few days ahead of omelet earnings release, I have to be cynical of their agenda When the man says I can get all the chicks I want if I would only wear his aftershave, I tend to question. ---- Amazon says price cut has spurred Kindle sales Amazon says price cut has spurred Kindle sales, but exact numbers remain a mystery ap * Companies: o Apple Inc. o Amazon.com Inc. On Monday July 19, 2010, 5:41 pm SEATTLE (AP) -- Amazon.com Inc. said Monday that sales of its Kindle electronic reading device have picked up since it cut the price. But exactly how many Kindles it is selling, Amazon did not say. Apple Inc.'s iPad has posed a threat to the e-reader market. The portable tablet computer has its own e-book store, plus a full color screen with Web browsing and other features that most dedicated e-readers don't have. Apple says it has sold more than 3 million of them. But Amazon has never said how many people have bought Kindles. Still, lowering the price to $189 from $259 does appear to be luring more readers. The company said Monday that sales climbed each month during the second quarter, both from the month before and the same month a year ago.
