LOS ANGELES (CBS) ? Officials say one man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Thursday afternoon at a medical marijuana dispensary in Echo Park. Hours later, another fatal shooting was reported at a clinic in Hollywood.

Police are not saying if the two shootings are related.

The first shooting was reported at 4:13 p.m. at the Higher Patch Holistic Care located in the 1300 block of Sunset Boulevard, near Dodger Stadium, said Officer Rosario Herrera of the Los Angeles Police Department.

"One male, Hispanic victim was shot in the upper torso," Herrera said.

"Another male victim was also struck."

One of the men died from his injuries, although it was unclear which.

No suspect information was immediately available.

In the second shooting, reported Thursday evening, one person was reportedly killed at a medical marijuana dispensary in Hollywood.

That shooting occurred in the 1600 block of North El Centro, according to LAPD Officer Rosario.

An employee of the Hollywood Holistic store was found dead at the scene following an apparent robbery attempt.

Police would not say how the worker was killed, only that it was a homicide.

No word on whether a suspect is in custody.

>>Exactly. Legalizing drugs doesn't traffic in other's misery. It allows government to remove the incentives for other who currently do so. Who benefitted from prohibition? The mobsters. Who benefits from illegal drug sales? The mobsters.<<

That is exactly correct; and years ago I was our states director of alcoholism and Drug abuse. Wrote the state plan. We legalized pot in the 1970's (great story - a bunch of hippie legislators did it-lol). Still legal today 4oz. Totally legal.

Legalizing pot alone, would knock the shit out of organized crime. Neighbors will grow it and sell to their neighbors. Solves a huge problem with drug mobsters, as you mention, gives pocket money to many, and an extra bonus is it wil be affordable to people who use it to calm down-lol.

I think the world needs a few more pot stoners and less alcoholics and hard drug users.-lol.
