Mike,

Yeah, those were the two data storage/storage area network companies that were leaders in fiber channel. I believe that ANCR was the best performing stock in the NAZ in 1999, and 1999 was the best year that the NAZ has had in its history.

But don't remind me of HDTV. At least I warned you the one caveat about those guys, i.e. - that 2 or more of the board members seemed to have been involved in the Iran/Contra affair. Turns out that they were sleezebags, kinda like Reyes(CEO of BRCD) turned out to be. The ex-CEO of HDTV is still being sought by authorities last I heard.

Also, ALTI, another zero/one affair seems to be heading towards the former at a steady pace. I still think large format energy storage is going to dwarf what data storage networking did in the high tech world, but things didn't happen as fast as I expected(and the recession didn't help). What's been happening lately is a lot of nothing due to the everyone waiting to see if they get some of those Obamabucks. Unlike HXL, ALTI does have the potential of ANCR(especially at today's price), but I wouldn't hold my breath. GE's investment in A123(AONE) has really tilted the playing field in A123's favor. Still, ALTI's offering has some advantages over A123's for certain applications - so it ain't dead yet.

Mike,

you wrote-
"I bought Hxl and Cyt, but never got into GEOY."

This last week would have been a time to load up. The stock is up 22.67% on the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency contract award($3.8 billion over 10 years) that everyone knew was coming. Heck, that's almost as much as Tiger Woods took in over the past ten years. <g> The August 40 call options would have been particularly sweet.

GEOY was the top gaining NASDAQ-GS stock today, which is a rare event for me. Almost feels like 1999. <g>

Funny thing - the venerable JPM put a big downgrade on GEOY just Tuesday of last week. As I said, this contract was due to be announced, so no surprises here. I really have to wonder if JPM was trying to pick up cheap shares. Oh, no, they would never do anything like that, would they? <G>
