you're no Jack Kennedy <g> er ... one of those -- I was referring to your not understanding the import of Newton's Laws -- heck, go read Einstein's book for the layman and you will see what he says about Newtons inverse square law for gravity. Go watch the popular Mechanical Universe series and you will see how accurately the orbit of the moon is predicted by Newton's "outdated" laws. Or get a little bit of background (it doesn't take much) and read Feynmann on computing the orbits of the planets using Newton's laws. Then you'll know something.

Of course, Newton's laws are totally sufficient to put something in orbit or a man on the moon. They will explain the orbit of all the planets, save Mercury -- but even there we are talking about a very small correction.

Like I said -- we have people who worship science -- i.e. the intellect of man -- when they don't even understand the basics.

So the scientists become the new "priests" -- folks you cannot question without getting heaped with scorn.

And ... the ones with the most scorn for those who are "unscientific," often have the least background when they dump on the unorthodox theories or ideas. The more things change the more they stay the same. Carry on ...
