Everybody seems to forget about the multi-year contract with NTT to build Japan's Internet infrastructure. Since ASND is the sole supplier of Japan, yes, sole supplier, the revenues will show up on the company earnings by March 1998 or possibly by this December quarter. The problems with current ASND stock prices are because Wall Street seems to focus on quarterly basis, not long-term. One bad quarter and the stock is trashed. Sometimes I cannot believe these prices from a company with such strong fundamentals and good revenue prospects. Ascend will recover in early 1998 provided that the company has to have at least 2 quarters which meet or exceed WS estimates to "undo" the credibility damages created by "irrational exuberance" from Ascend's management. I think the chance of recovery to 40+ around March 98 is more than 75%, to 50+ is more than 50%. Forget this stock from now until January 1998, we will be happier investors.
Cheers with deep wounds.

Hey Pirate: <ASND at 20 Bush said Ain't gonna do it>. Also said "Wouldn't be Prudent." But if by chance it happens, it would be one of the greatest bargains since Dell in mid 20's (pre-splits to Jan. 1996). I sincerely doubt it will ever get there and still think it is foolish to wait-- like those who waited for Dell to get to 20 but only got to mid 20s and then more than quadrupled. I agree that you cannot predict an absolute bottom, but any idiot should be able to see that ASND is EXTREMELY CLOSE to ABSOLUTE BOTTOM at 23-24. ASND will make a full recovery to its former high at 80 within 6-24 months. Seen it happen before with DELL, ALTR, INTC-- top companies like those and ASND always do. Too good for too long to stay too low.
