Intel is taking a very disingenuous position

I heard nothing in the analyst's meeting to indicate they recognize the importance of the sub $1000 market. They tried to throw as much cold water on the existence of that market as possible.

They are discounting the entire Asian financial meltdown and keeping their glowing projections for worldwide growth in the PC market for 1998.

I can't fault them for trying to protect the business model to which they are firmly committed but that model may be about to crack wide open.

And remember what Andy had to say about unit growth --- "Noone knows"

That's the message I got.
