It is becoming clear that it is probably a fallacy to believe that jsut because SE Asian countries are having currency problems, they will necessarily cut back on cap equip outlays. In fact, most fabs will continue to invest heavily, just to stay competitive.

Just look at what Taiwan is up to:

After discussion this weekend, there is little concern over the short term effects of the problems in SEA, no concern over the long term. In fact, not doing business in Asia would be a major problem. Additionally, only about 10% of their sales come from countries that MAY BE affected by the currency devaluation. I would have to agree with Paul. -Keith

If ASYT is like the other semi equip vendors, it sells products in USD, so the co. has no direct currency exposure.

I think far too much has been made of SE Asia's currency woes in this sector.
