Name a prosperous country without a lot of regulation please.

The United States, up until the last few decades or so. This country didn't grow into the most wealthy and successful society on earth with the sort of asshole bureaucrats who bust little girl's lemonade stands, regulating and meddling in every aspect of the economy.

People who think that freedom and capitalism were fine to grow an economy, but are unnecessary to sustain it, are in for a rude awakening.

You have attributed our prosperity to government and government regulation in the past, whether you meant all of it or a large part of it, I can't tell for sure but its clear you see it as a major factor in creating prosperity:

If you try to do, or even just regulate, almost everything, your unlikely to do a good job at most of it.

Yet they have. At much more than most of it. Otherwise the country wouldn't have been so successful.

As for prosperous countries without a lot of regulation, thats hard to guage because there seems to be some level of government regulation in all countries, poor or rich. I suppose one of the least regulated countries around now is, ironically, China. While it isn't prosperous as a whole, it's enjoyed rapid sustained economic growth for a couple decades now. When their economic liberalization began, everyone in the country was poverty stricken and now the country has a large middle and upper class. We've seen a correlation of economic freedom (from high taxes and stifling regulations) and economic growth all over the world from Ireland and Switzerland vs the rest of western Europe to the Asian "tigers".
