Just remember the cardinal rule of SI demographics: Obama's weakest support is among elderly white voters, and SI is so heavily skewed to that demographic that I'm surprised it doesn't just fall over some days.

After hearing the endless cranky old folks screaming on the lawn here, I like to go to Facebook and catch up on my nieces and nephews and all their friends, most of whom seem blissfully untouched by the crappy old bile floating around here.

"they think that this mosque thing is the issue that will be Obama's "Waterloo. "

I thought that was heath care.

Polls are showing that more than two thirds of Americans are opposed to the building of Cordoba Initiative's cultural center on that site. I find that very sad, indeed. I appreciate Obama's stand on the matter all the more because it is clearly not based on political expedience. The man is standing up for what is right.

Some people have huge problems getting their heads around the notion of non-state terrorists. Since they cannot assign them to a state, they assign them to a religion. It's completely bizarre, but for fearful people who want easy answers I guess hating the followers of an entire religion makes sense.

I'm not fond of any religions, but I am able to understand that believers in all religions come in many flavors- the good, the bad and the ugly. This seems utterly impossible for some on the right to understand. They want everything to be black and white- or perhaps I should say Christian and Moslem. Welcome to the new crusades. I feel like I'm watching a reenactment of the freaking middle ages with some of these people (on both sides.) It's too bad we can't just put the extremists on a little island together, so they could replay the crusades without bothering the rest of us. Heck, it might even make decent reality TV.
