"Has anybody invested in this sector and/or these companies? What's your strategy?"

Mine's pretty simple ..

I use VZ services where I live, so
I own VZ stock ..
I view it as a bond with capital gains potential ..

Triff ..

I own VZ. Have had it about a year, down 1% with dividends reinvested. I also received shares of FTR as a result of a VZ spinoff.

I have both VZ and FTR set up for dividend reinvesting. I'm taking a long term approach.

If FTR performs well, I'll consider adding to my present position.

I don't own T so I don't have anything to say about it.

I do own CTL and it has performd very well for me over the last year and a half. One of my better performers actually. It to is set up for dividend reinvesting. My yield on cost is above 11%.

Comparing T, VZ & CMCSA -

It's been the great Dividend and now it's the new emerging market in Internet (mobile) TV.

With the convergence of digital media both T & VZ now provide a cable like TV service. In the future, Internet TV may be the delivery choice for media (no city franchise fees too) to the consumer.

Since 2000, Both T & VZ has under performed CMSCA by 20%.
(Note: You need to move the time bar tab below the graph to FY 2000 to view the comparison)
finance.yahoo.com

The big difference has been their Dividend payments. ( finance.yahoo.com )
Comcast Corp.(NasdaqGS: CMCSA) Div & Yield: 0.38 (2.10%)
Verizon (NYSE: VZ) Div & Yield: 1.90 (6.30%)
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) Div & Yield: 1.68 (6.30%)

I own all three but am thinking of closing out my position in CMSCA and putting the proceeds into T & VC. I will get a better dividend payout and should see both VZ & T expand their market into digital internet TV (mobile & wireless) related products.

I wonder if T & VZ will maintain their high yield as the industry grows and requires more large capital investments.

Frontier Communications Corpora (NYSE: FTR)

Sold my FTR shares. For the first time since the spin off (11-10-08) from VZ have FTR shares been this high. I continue to hold my VZ and T shares.

The proceeds are small which I will hold in cash reserves to deploy in other more compelling dividend payers.
