Good for you! I think parents should force kids to save money.

They will fight, kick and spit when you do it, but later in life they will admit it was the best thing you ever did for them.

My 25 year old son is in the Navy too. I have forced him to save since he was knee high. I took part of his birthday money, Xmas money, allowance, you name it.

A year ot two ago he was stationed in San Diego and you need a car in San Diego. He paid cash. The people at the dealership were shocked that a young kid was going to pay cash for a car.

He told them I extorted his money from him. He was told they wish their Dad had forced them to save. He doesn't complain anymore. He continues to give me $500 per month.
