"I don't know why Dr. Laura is citing the N-word controversy as a reason for her leaving radio."

The controversy is not the reason. She promoted the topic probably intending the controversy to flush out some disparities. Most people don't think the word should ever be directed at another person, some people find it acceptable but only if black people are using it or if it is used in humor by black people. She promoted the topic and she shouldn't have because it was no help to her caller, which was an ethical slip. She used the word in its entirety and that was wrong even under her argument but that or the controversy over it was not her reason for leaving radio.

"...doesn't sound like her at all."

So what is the reason she is leaving radio? Her sponsors and affiliates have become the targets of a very orgnanised and successful attack as a result of her promoting this particular topic. She no longer has the support from them needed to continue. She's lost her confidence in that particular forum as a result. There may be other contributing reasons she hasn't expressed, 30 years is a long time.

"Chinu wants to silence dissenting thought from this thread."

I haven't seen that.

"I don't know why Dr. Laura is citing the N-word controversy as a reason for her leaving radio"
I don't know why they use "Nword" or "Fword" or whatever.

Gregory’s autobiography, Nigger, was published in 1963 prior to The assassination of President Kennedy, and became the number one best-selling book in America. Over the decades it has sold in excess of seven million copies. His choice for the title was explained in the forward, where Dick Gregory wrote a note to his mother. "Whenever you hear the word ‘Nigger’," he said, "you’ll know their advertising my book."

I don't know why Dr. Laura is citing the N-word controversy as a reason for her leaving radio. Seems like a retreat to me,....

Retreat is when someone quits a elected office like a Governorship before the term is up. Laura's contract was up for renewal, and she decided not to seek one. I call that going out in a very very dignified manner.
