At a stock price of 24 1/8, ASND's market cap of $4.5B
is about 2.4 times cash on hand (500MM) + existing order
backlog (300MM) + 1997 sales (1.1B).

At the 17 stock price suggested by some, ASND's market
cap would be less than 1.7 times cash on hand, backlog
and 1 year sales.

FR and ATM, what's the problem? ascend.com

BTW, if you followed CSCO in March, April this year, the negativity from media was just like what it is now for ASND. Even LA Times carried an article bashing CSCO's corporate culture since it's a melting pot of all kinds of companies. It's always safe and sensational to explore the negatives of a beaten-down stock and praise an all-time-high stock. CSCO is no INTC or MSFT. It has no monopoly over the network and probably won't since the network gears are becoming commodities faster than any other industry.

Clare,
Cascade's buisness has been the bright spot of this situation. Book-to-bill solidly over 1.

>>>Slowing momentum from Cascade.<<<

CSCC's momentum was slowing before the merger was ever anounced -- hence, the reason the stock crashed at the beginning of the year. In fact, ever since the merger with ASND has been in progress, CSCC's business has been picking up nicely...if it wasn't for CSCC's added revenues this last Q, ASND would be less than $15. It's ASND's business that was slowing, and we can thank our lucky stars we have CSCC picking up ASND's slack!
