Dear Cisco:

My brother in Christ..All salutation to you by the kindness and grace and love of our dear lord and savoir Jesus Christ..All knowing Lord. that He would guide and love us into newness of spirit..

If you don't mind I am going to take each point you make, because to do otherwise will be to in effect not appreciating your insight and facet of learning that the holy spirit intends to the edifing of his word.. and that all who would witness this post could be further enlightened.

Points one two and three I would agree would be universally accepted. God's call is universal, God's call is is to believe and trust in him, and that all gifts, and resources and "talents" are from God and we will account to our creator some day .

Your fourth point, "what God expects in return is for us to be faithful over what God has given us".

O K. Lets say that this is God's requirement or one of many requirements that the unwise servant did not meet. Nevertheless we can assume that the servant did not meet this requirement. I ask you would this in and of itself "trigger" God's wrath to the extent that it did. Interesting to note that Barclay infers that the scribes and pharisees are the intended target of this parable; for we all know that Jesus was especially riled over those two groups. They really got him going, calling them dead men like bones in a casket that really looked good from the outside.. But Christ called this man "wicked and slothful " in Mat 25 verse 26... a severe denouncement !!!!

Now this is a very key and interesting point . The servant in verse 24 says that " Lord I knew that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed :" and what do we see in verse 26 the master says--"" thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not and gather where I have not strawed:""---the master agrees with him !!.

So what,, he says then you should have given the talents to the bankers at least and gotten a little interest from them.. which in my opinion means that if the unwise servant would have at least given the talents to the bankers that the master would have; while not been completely happy, still patted the servant on the back and just as he did with the other two told them " well done thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things and I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the LORD."

Your fifth six and seventh points are wonderful..especially the seventh point where you say that God's love and blessings are handed out equally, and that just because God gives one person more talents or responsibilities than another, does no mean that God is playing favoritism but that he is handing out talents according to out "several abilities" that is pointed out in verse 15. God knows each of us , our shortcomings and our limitations, he does not expect more of us than we are capable of giving.

I would suggest that your point eight " the reward for our faithfulness is to be given more responsibilities" be further stated that in verse 29. for unto every one that hath (hath what) shall be given, and shall have abundance.

Your ninth and ten points are wonderful, showing not only the personal relationship you have with Christ but the sensitivity and firmness that the holy spirit gives us in our witnessing and dealing with the unsaved.

Now, while I have not fully explained the why of the severity of the punishment in verse 30 " cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth". I want to save that a little while for another day.. I want to address a topic that I feel is very relevant to our discussion... and I have also not forgotten our original discussion of should a Christian trade options in the stock market and is it or is it not a sin .

What is the difference between a born again believer and a spirit filled believer that is baptized in the spirit ? All Christians have the holy spirit. Some are not baptized in the spirit. You are not unwise or ignorant or foolish if you have not been baptized in the spirit. You will still be received in the rapture without the baptism of the holy spirit. Can the baptism of the holy spirit be viewed simply as a gift or talent from God? If you will; an anointing to do a specific task within God's kingdom and along with it the power to be responsible over another talent or two in God's kingdom. I'm just asking the question ?

The truth is this ==== there is just one class of Christian, one kind of christian and that is a born again Christian====if you are not baptised in the spirit it does not excuse you from your responsibilities in the KINGDOM..the reason that I am bring this up is because this topic actually does cause problems in some churches...

In Christ.......until his soon coming return... your servant in the Lord.....gregor
