(Remember: Reagan's numbers continued to FALL for several more months *too* in the ABC/WAPO polls!)

Not rate away, and least not more than a tiny amount. They went up and down with not great overall movement until later in his 2nd year when they took another serious drop. At this point of his presidency he was decisively above Obama.

More importantly after the 2nd year Reagan's ratings decisively broke to the upside. There is not much reason to think Obama's will do the same. Assuming that because the first part of the trend line matches reasonably close implies that the rest will, is like some baseball team that started out poorly saying they will win the world series because some past world series winner started out with the same record.

Even more importantly, Reagan was a great president because of his actions not because of the polls. Obama is moving us in the wrong direction, a point that wouldn't change even if his popularity turned around.
