we all know who Thomas Sowell is

A national treasure. We don't have Milton Friedman anymore but we still have Thomas Sowell. Bad news, he's 80 years old.

>> The fact remains that most of the world has some form of national insurance

I'm not sure this is true. I would depend on how you define "most of the world" as well as on what is "national" insurance. Half the US had "national insurance" when we started down this path under the incompetent leadership of the O-Man.

>>> and to my knowledge none has ever eliminated it.

Don't know if that is true either, but it is believable. Social programs, once enacted, cannot be eliminated. Social Security and Medicare threaten the very existence of the United States, yet it would be political suicide for anyone to do anything about it.

As we just witnessed: The "big" health care overhaul leaves government health care (which provides care for half of Americans) growing without bound.
